NODKA to Present at CODESYS Tech Talk Fall 2026
NODKA joins the fall edition of CODESYS Tech Talk with a Day 4 session on what it takes to hold a deterministic EtherCAT cycle while the same controller also feeds data upstairs.
Event: CODESYS Tech Talk Fall 2026
Dates: October 5 to 9, 2026, free and online
NODKA session: Thursday, October 8, 10:45 – 11:30 AM CT
Session Title: The Cost of Connectivity: Real-Time EtherCAT and OPC UA on One IPC Controller, with NODKA IPCs and CODESYS
About CODESYS Tech Talk Fall 2026
Tech Talk is CODESYS Corporation’s online series for the automation community, and this fall it runs across five mornings. The week pairs deep dives into the platform itself, among them a live look at AI in the engineering workflow and a first view of CODESYS 4, with CODESYS in the FIELD slots where users and partners walk through systems they have actually put into service. Companies on this year’s program include ExxonMobil, KUKA, Weidmueller, OPTO22 and WEG, and the final day is given over to hands-on training on the Professional Development Edition. Every session is live, attendance costs nothing, and each day carries its own registration link.
What to Expect from the NODKA Session
Most machines in service were specified for one job. Then the plant asks for their data, and a cycle that has run untouched for years finds itself sharing a processor with an OPC UA server. Our team opens by framing what that sharing costs on a single industrial PC controller, and which layer of the system turns out to settle the question, because it is not the one most engineers look at first.
The second half moves to hardware. The bench is a NODKA iPAC DIN rail controller running CODESYS Control RTE, an AK1100 EtherCAT coupler with AL series I/O modules, and an OPC UA client hosted on a separate fanless automation PC. We cover commissioning the fieldbus, publishing tags upstream, and then put a number on what the connection costs. Those figures are saved for the live session.
Why Attend?
Anyone running a soft PLC, a motion axis or an edge gateway on PC hardware meets the same problem sooner or later: the timing is not what the datasheet implied, and it is unclear which layer deserves the blame. Forty-five minutes here will leave you with a way to locate that, a way to load a machine so the fault reveals itself rather than hiding, and a clearer sense of where firmware configuration sits in relation to the control runtime. Bring your own application: Day 4 closes with a Q&A alongside every speaker on the program.

Two companion guides cover the build itself, Configuring an EtherCAT Controller with CODESYS on an IPC and Connecting a NODKA iPAC to SCADA over OPC UA. Our 2025 appearance, on EtherCAT motion control, covers the deployment side.
